SOCHUM

    The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, as known as Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) focuses on issues affecting the international community's core social, cultural, and humanitarian concerns. The Third Committee works to promote, provide and protect fundamental freedoms and principles that benefit the entire international community, such as the right to live, freedom of expression, political participation, the preservation of children's rights, and the promotion of social development, to name a few. SOCHUM receives its legitimacy from the original United Nations Charter and strives to find peaceful solutions to difficulties that arise in the international society across a large sequence of social, humanitarian, and cultural issues.
