SPECPOL

SPECPOL (Special Political And Decolonization Committee) is the 4th committee of the General Assembly. Originally, the committee was created to address sensitive political issues and decolonization-related matters in the second half of the twentieth century. However, today SPECPOL deals with a variety of issues ranging from peacekeeping and peaceful uses of outer space to the Middle East and the effects of atomic radiation. With the ultimate goal of maintaining international peace and security.

The focus of the committee will be civil unrest caused by the massive rise in refugees due to civil war in the Middle east. Events like the Syrian civil war and the Taliban's resurgence in Afghanistan have caused over 80 million people to be forcibly displaced from their countries of origin thus creating conflict both in their original homes and the countries they have taken shelter to.

Agenda item: Refugee scandals due to civil war in the middle east.

Under Secretary-General: Bedirhan Cura
